The Perfect Margarita Recipe

March 6, 2023

There is nothing better on a hot summer day than a perfect, simple, and fresh Margarita. I get so much joy when drinking a margarita that has fresh lime juice and a little bit of carbonation, it literally makes for the perfect margarita recipe. An immediate no for me would be a sour mix situation, who wants a sour, fake lime juice margarita?

This recipe creates the perfect balance of ingredients, and of course my favorite tequila for the price and quality Casamigos. The trick to any good classic margarita is using fresh lime juice and blanco tequila. Whenever you venture out in the tequila genre you get farther away from a classic.

Ingredients:

  • 2 Oz Blanco Tequila
  • 1.5 Oz Triple Sec
  • 1/2 Packet Stevia in the Raw (use for low calorie/sugar)
  • 1.5 Oz Fresh Squeezed Lime Juice
  • Top Chico Topper
  • Lime for garnish
  • Kosher Salt (Rim of Glass)
  • Shaker
  • Ice

Directions:

  1. Place ice in your shaker, and pour in Tequila, Triple Sec, Stevia, Lime Juice
  2. Place lid on shaker, and shake for about 10 seconds or until outside of shaker is cold
  3. Use lime slide to move over the rim of the glass, and place kosher salt on small plate
  4. Turn Glass upside down and place rim in the salt for glass garnishment
  5. Pour ingredients over ice into a fresh glass
  6. Top with Topo Chico to taste (less for boozier preferance)
  7. Garnish with lime

How to Host an Oyster Roast

June 13, 2021

For Blake’s Birthday this year we headed to the Mountains to be with family. We wanted to do something fun for his birthday, and we LOVE oysters so we decided to host an Oyster Roast.

An Oyster Roast is fun because of how interactive you are with guests and it can all be done outside for an easy clean up. I wanted to share everything we purchased for the party and why.

Oysters

Island Creek Oysters are so good and worth the price. I actually found out about them through Living with Landyn. If you don’t follow her, she is always hosting and her and her husband make some pretty amazing dishes so I trust her judgment. 🙂

Table:

Shuckers: These matter! The ones pictured above I do not recommend. They didn’t work, splurging on a shucker is definitely worth it. They need to be sharp, and I am sharing one below that has better reviews.

Runner & Tablecloth: Super happy with how these turned out and I can easily use them again.

Plates: These are incredible, and the main reason is because they look great, but I can toss them when we are done with minimal clean-up.

Bin: Make sure you have something cute to toss the Oysters in. I use the bin above all the time for parties so I wanted to share a similar one below.

Shop the Table

Drinks: Bourbon pairs really well with oysters so of course we made Shoo-Fly Punch as recommended by Southern Living. I put a spin on the recipes, so sharing the details below.

Shoo-Fly Punch Recipe:

Ingredients

  • 5 tablespoons bourbon
  • 2 tablespoons Cointreau
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 3 Packets of Stevia in the Raw
  • ¼ teaspoon orange bitters
  • Crushed ice
  • Nonalcoholic Fever Tree ginger beer, chilled
  • Garnishes: orange slices, fresh mint sprigs

Directions

  • Step 1 Muddle Mint, Stevia, Orange Slices, and Bitters in a cocktail shaker
  • Step 2 Add in bourbon, cointreau, and ice to the muddled mixture
  • Step 3 Shake until shaker is thoroughly cold
  • Step 4 Pour mixture into glass filled with crushed ice
  • Step 5 Top with Ginger Beer, and garnish with orange and sprig of Mint
  • Enjoy Immediately!

Sangria Recipe

March 7, 2021

For those that love and drink Sangria you know there are so many different types of Sangria from fuller body to light. This particular Sangria recipe is extremely light and smooth because the base is Rosé. It is the perfect summer recipe for those hot days where you want something refreshing for those outdoor barbecues or parties. This recipe needs to be served chilled or over ice. If you want to add a little bit of bubble or have more texture in the drink I would recommend a sparkling rosé.

Sangria Ingredients

  • 1 Bottle of Rosé (Preferably Oregan or a Pinot Noir Base) More on the drier than sweeter side)
  • 2 Cups of White Rum (I use Captain Morgans)
  • 2 Cups White Cranberry Juice
  • 1/2 Cup of Strawberries
  • 1/2 Cup of Blueberries
  • 1/2 Cup of Raspberries
  • 1/2 Cup of Blackberries

Sangria Recipe Directions

  • Pour 2 Cups of of white rum into a bowl
  • Combine all the berries and pour them into the white rum
  • Let white rum and berries marinate overnight for for at least 8 hours in the refrigerator
  • Once white rum and berry mixture has marinated combine with cranberry and Rose
  • Activate mint and add as a garnish

Pick up some fun glasses to enjoy your Sangria in!
